Electron Microscope Visits Monroe

We are fortunate to be able to have an scanning electron microscope visit our classroom today. This microscope belongs to the University of Oregon's physics department, and is on loan to us so we can look at mineral samples more closely. Today we looked at table salt (halite) with our eye, hand lenses and then under the electron microscope. Students were amazed at what they were able to see. We also looked at galena (which showed exceptional cleavage), quartz, and gypsum. We will continue our studies tomorrow.

Tonight's Homework: None!
