Students used their mass and volume data from yesterday to create dot plots of the data. We then transfered our hypotheses onto the plots by drawing arrows pointing upwards for every cube we predicted to float in water. After students completed this task, we placed each cube in water and watched them float and sink. Students were able to predict correctly on 7 of the 9 cubes, but two results were surprising to most. We noticed that the cubes that floated all had densities that were less than 1 g/ml, while all the cubes that sank had densities greater than 1 g/ml.
Tonight's Homework: None for those who actually did the density calculations last night. Otherwise, complete your data tables and bring them to class on Wednesday.
