Students received 2-page grade printouts that we reviewed in class. These are to be signed by parents and returned to class on Wednesday, as there will not be a grade on the trimester grade report coming out at the end of the week.
We spent about 15 minutes taking notes about sedimentary rocks. We learned that there are two kinds of sedimentary rocks--clastic and chemical. Today's activity found students crushing crayons and then trying to put them back together. Some students created powdery piles of crayon particles, while others had chunks of crayon. This represents the range in texture that can be found in sedimentary rocks. Afterwards, students attempted to compact the fragments, but were mainly unsuccessful at completing the task. We wrapped the crayons in foil, making little pockets.
Tonight's Homework: Read pages 37 - 40, and answer the questions on page 40. Remember to get your grade print-out signed and returned to me.
