Parts of the Scientific Method

Wow--six of you missed class today! I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Today, we took time to analyze our candy data and then write the analysis. We even compared our results to the data collected by students in my algebra class. They, too, found more purple hearts in their packages of candy, but the results for least common color of heart was split between green and white. Students turned in their science reports, data tables and graphs.

We began another activity, designed to help us with our hypothesizing and analysis skills. Students guessed how many raisins would be found in a small mini-box of raisins. At first, our guesses were all over the place, ranging from 11 to 50 raisins. After opening just one box of raisins, our guesses were confined to a much narrower range. We will be continuing this activity on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tonight's Homework: None, but you could get your grade slip signed and bring it back on Wednesday so you can earn a little extra credit.
