Eggs and the Layers of the Earth

Students turned in their egg boiling lab reports today, complete with graph, data, and analyses. Because the egg did not take on or lose any atoms while being boiled, it is logical that its mass didn't change.

Students drew cut-away pictures of the earth and a hard-boiled egg, showing the interior layers of each. We talked about how many layers each has--and agreed that different people could come up with different numbers of layers. This activity will help students understand their first reading assignment, which was given today.

Tonight's Homework: Read pages 88 - 94 and answer the questions on page 94.
