Students learned more volcano vocabulary through observing a variety of igneous rocks. Examples of pumice, basalt, pahoehoe, aa, cinders, lava bombs, and obsidian were available for students to touch, handle and observe. We talked about the similarities and differences between explosive and non-explosive volcanic eruptions, and what normally is ejected from each.
