We Sunk a Mountain Today!

We began our study of percents today by talking about tips at restaurants. We practiced finding 10%, 20% and then 15% of different restaurant bills. We learned that some people round their tips to the nearest nickel, dime, quarter, or even dollar, just so they don't have to worry about having the proper number of coins.

Students made topographic maps of a mountain today in science. We poured colored water into a plastic box containing a volcano and drew lines connecting points of equal elevation. These contour maps will be used for mapping activities later in the week.

Tonight's Homework:
Math--BP 3 Investigation 4.2, parts B-D.
