Spring Trimester Has Arrived!

We took the practice test to prepare ourselves for the OAKS state math test. Students learned how to strike through answers that they know are not correct so they can eliminate possibilities and raise their chances for passing. We also talked about all the things students can use on the test (calculators, manipulatives, formula sheets, etc.) but they must ask for it. Using scratch paper is also helpful. We'll be pacing ourselves--trying to complete between 10 and 15 problems a day for the next few days.

We began our study of the earth today by building puzzles and focussing on the strategies used to solve the problem. These same strategies led scientists to come up with the theories of continental drift and plate tectonics. Students will be learning about these later this week.
