We continued our scale model of the earth's layers activity today by listing facts about the earth layers. Students were asked to state at least 3 facts about each of the 5 layers of the earth we marked on our strips of paper. In addition, students could add paragraphs about the lithosphere, asthenosphere and mesosphere for extra credit. Most students were able to get at least 75% of this work completed in class.
In math, we looked at some multi-step problems that involve the use of percents. Determining a quarterback's passing rating was one problem we looked at. A second one dealt with determining the cost of an item with a discount and sales tax. Students chose one of the two problems to complete and had some class time to get started on the problem of their choice.
Tonight's Homework:
Math--Answer either question 1 or 2 on pages 77-79 in your BP III book. Be sure to answer all parts of your question, and show your work.
Science--Finish your paragraphs about the different layers of the earth and what you learned about them by drawing the layers to scale.
