Sweets Shows Tectonic Forces

Students reviewed order of operations today, as well as the distributive property, in preparation for tonight's homework. A few of the early extra credit posters for PEMDAS were shared. We will take a quiz over order of operations on Friday.

In science, we used gum, licorice vines and candy to learn about compressional, tensional and shear forces that cause the earth's surface to change, or deform. Students learned about joints, anticlines and synclines while manipulating the different sweets in different ways. All in all, students seemed to enjoy the activity, and then they ate the evidence!

Tonight's Homework:
Math--Home Book, page 89 (all) and 91 (7 - 19). Be sure to show your work.

Science
--Read pages 103-109 and then answer the questions on page 109.
