Apples, Advertising Ploys, and Multiplying Fractions

Students collected apple mass data and recorded this information on their data tables and graphs. Afterwards, we switched gears and talked about alcohol-related topics. Students shared that their parents are pleasantly surprised that we are talking about alcohol use and abuse. We looked at a few ways that advertising agencies take advantage of promoting their products, no matter what they are, to increase their profits. Groups worked on a mad lib activity to make a silly advertisement for a new type of beverage. We all got a big kick out of these silly stories. In math, students continued their study of multiplying fractions by perfecting their model-drawing techniques for brownie pans and number lines.

Tonight's Homework:
Math--ACE 3 ( 6-10, 38,39 )

Science
--Students have a yellow booklet that they are encouraged to take home and share with parents. The top part of the back cover needs to be completed by a parent and returned to school by next Thursday, October 25th. Be sure your apple lab work is up to date, so you don't have too much to complete on Monday night.
