We swapped science for health today, and began our unit on alcohol education. Students were introduced to Slick Tracy, his friends, and some of his foes (like Niagara False) through a comic strip to help us talk about the misinformation we come across about why teens might want to drink alcohol. During class, peer leaders had us play a game where we listed as many non-alcoholic drinks as we could beginning with certain letters. We also tried to come up with fun activities 11 and 12 year olds can participate that do not involve alcohol. I think we all had a little fun with these activities.
In math, we talked about fact families, and how subtraction undoes addition, even when using fractions.

Science--Students have a red booklet that they are encouraged to take home and share with parents. The top part of the back cover needs to be completed by a parent and returned to school by next Thursday, October 18th.
