"You WILL Have Fun" with Alcohol Education

We swapped science for health today, and began our unit on alcohol education. Students were introduced to Slick Tracy, his friends, and some of his foes (like Niagara False) through a comic strip to help us talk about the misinformation we come across about why teens might want to drink alcohol. During class, peer leaders had us play a game where we listed as many non-alcoholic drinks as we could beginning with certain letters. We also tried to come up with fun activities 11 and 12 year olds can participate that do not involve alcohol. I think we all had a little fun with these activities. In math, we talked about fact families, and how subtraction undoes addition, even when using fractions.
