Students received grade summaries of their fall trimester work, showing areas of strengths and possible areas needing extra attention. We began a term-long investigation on the number of hours of daylight in Eugene. Students will be required to keep track of several sheets of paper for the entire term, so the data can be analyzed. We continued our discussion of finding patterns in sequences of numbers, and turning those patterns into equations. Some students prefer using pictures, some prefer data tables, and others prefer graphs to help discover the "rule" or equation. I'm hoping everyone will be able to use at least two of these methods to come up with equations that fit the pattern. This is one way to introduce students to the world of linear algebra!
Tonight's Homework:
Math--Create a well-labeled data table and graph of the dot pattern data we worked with in class today. Write an equation to describe the patterns you found.
Science--Work on the science packet. It is due by the end of the week.
