To celebrate Earth Day, students received stickers, pencils and a bookmark. We did an activity related to mining for different kinds of earth materials (coal, aluminum, iron, copper, gold) by using a cookie and several different mining "tools" (fingers, straws and toothpicks). After the excavation was done, students had to reconstruct their earth to pre-mining status or be stuck with a fine. Afterwards, students enjoyed their mining finds (or just ate their cookies). In math, we talked about data, and used the number of letters in our first and last names to do so.
Tonight's Homework:
Math--DAU, Problem 1.1 on pages 8 and 9.
Science--Complete the analysis for your Mining activity (cookie lab) that you started in class today.
